Questions: What is cultural diversity, and how do you think it affects the way people feel about what it means to be an American?

Purpose: The purpose of this unit is to give you an opportunity to study other cultures, to analyze and evaluate cultural diversity in America, to address problems that arise from stereotyping people from different cultures, and to think of solutions to those problems.

Objectives: Scholars will.. listen to their peers and participate in academic discussions, assess their achievement by using instructional and analytical rubrics, use the Close Reading strategy to analyze a variety of texts, identify claims, evidence, and reasoining in a variety of texts, write using the CERS formate for argument/persuasive writing, write explanitory essays and responses, as well as evaluate current events using your historical background knowledge and logic.
